Wget

Wget is a network utility to retrieve files from the Web using http(s) and ftp, the two most widely used Internet protocols. It works non-interactively, so it will work in the background, after having logged off. The program supports recursive retrieval of web-authoring pages as well as ftp sites — you can use wget to make mirrors of archives and home pages or to travel the Web like a WWW robot.

Wget works particularly well with slow or unstable connections by continuing to retrieve a document until the document is fully downloaded. Re-getting files from where it left off works on servers (both http and ftp) that support it. Both http and ftp retrievals can be time stamped, so wget can see if the remote file has changed since the last retrieval and automatically retrieve the new version if it has.

Wget supports proxy servers; this can lighten the network load, speed up retrieval, and provide access behind firewalls.

Wget is a default download manager for Ubuntu Edgy Eft. Therefore you do not need to install it again

Aria

Aria is a download manager. The transfer can be paused, resumed, queued and saved. It has a very user friendly GTK based GUI, and useful log consoles. Program supports CRC checking, HTTP proxy server, cut-and-paste, drag-and-drop, and can define specific file retrieving procedure for particular web servers.

Type this in your terminal;

sudo apt-get install aria

Curl

Curl is a client to get files from servers using any of the supported protocols. The command is designed to work without user interaction or any kind of interactivity.

Curl offers a busload of useful tricks like proxy support, user authentication, ftp upload, HTTP post, file transfer resume and more.

Type this in your terminal;

sudo apt-get install curl

Downloader for X

Downloader for X is a powerful graphical download manager. It supports both HTTP(S) and FTP protocols and has nice graphical user interface, though some actions can also be performed using the command line.

Among others, its key features include proxy and SOCKS5 support, recursive downloading, wildcard matching, download scheduler, multiple download queues and more…

Type this in your terminal;

sudo apt-get install d4x

Gwget

Gwget offers a GNOME front-end to the popular wget application, with enhanced features, such as systray icon, multiple downloads and a powerful preferences manager.

Type this in your terminal;

sudo apt-get install gwget

KDE KGET

KGET is a a download manager similar to GetRight or Go!zilla. It keeps all your downloads in one dialog and you can add and remove transfers. Transfers can be paused, resumed, queued or scheduled. Dialogs display info about status of transfers – progress, size, speed and remaining time. Program supports drag & drop from KDE applications and Netscape.

Type this in your terminal;

sudo apt-get install kget

This package is part of KDE, as a component of the KDE network module. Therefore you need to install another KDE packages to run KGET on your Ubuntu Edgy Eft.

Firefox Support

Firefox is a default web browser for Ubuntu Edgy Eft. Thanks God it’s Firefox 2.0 There are so many download extension for Firefox. FlashGot is a popular download extension for Firefox. But feel free to get your own choice .......

Program Bantuan Keberangkatan ke dan dari Luar Negeri

Program Bantuan Keberangkatan Dari dan Ke Luar Negeri adalah bantuan yang diberikan kepada perorangan di lingkungan Depdiknas yang akan berangkat dari dan ke luar negeri dan diusulkan oleh instansi atau lembaga pendidikan di lingkungan Depdiknas dimana yang bersangkutan bekerja atau mahasiswa (dengan persyaratan khusus) serta peserta penerima Beasiswa RI yang akan datang ke Indonesia atas dasar kesepakatan kerjasama bilateral. Program ini dalam rangka mendukung peningkatan sumber daya manusia yang cerdas dan kompetitif sesuai dengan visi pendidikan nasional. Untuk tahun anggaran 2009 dialokasikan bagi 200 orang yang telah lulus seleksi.

PERSYARATAN

Persyaratan yang harus dipenuhi dalam mengikuti program ini adalah sebagai berikut:

1. Pegawai yang diusulkan oleh lembaga pendidikan di lingkungan Depdiknas maupun lembaga yang terkait dengan pendidikan dan ditandatangani oleh atasan
2. Mahasiswa yang akan berangkat ke luar negeri dan tinggal di luar negeri selama minimal 1 bulan untuk kegiatan akademis dan diusulkan oleh Lembaga Perguruan Tinggi. (Program ini tidak tersedia bagi Siswa Sekolah)
3. Mengisi formulir yang sudah disediakan pada website program ini dengan mencantumkan Nomor Rekening Instansi/Lembaga yang mengusulkan, serta melengkapi dengan dokumen yang dibutuhkan sebagai berikut :
   • Surat Rekomendasi Atasan
   • Undangan Kegiatan
   • Pas Foto
   • Paspor
   • Tiket / Kode Booking
4. Usulan harus diterima oleh Biro PKLN sebelum keberangkatan

JENIS KEGIATAN

Bantuan keberangkatan ini diberikan kepada mereka yang akan berangkat ke dan dari luar negeri dalam rangka kegiatan akademis yang meliputi:

1. Merintis dan melakukan kerjasama dengan pihak luar negeri.
2. Mahasiswa Asing Penerima Beasiswa RI peserta Program Darmasiswa RI dalam rangka kerjasama bilateral
3. Tenaga pengajar pada Sekolah Indonesia di luar negeri.
4. Peserta Beasiswa Unggulan Double Degree, Depdiknas.
5. Konferensi, Seminar, dan Training di luar negeri.

Jumlah bantuan sebesar Rp 2.700.000,- (Dua juta tujuh ratus ribu rupiah) untuk kawasan ASEAN dan di luar kawasan ASEAN sebesar Rp. 6.300.000,- (Enam juta tiga ratus ribu rupiah) per orang akan diberikan kepada pemohon yang telah melengkapi semua persyaratan dan lulus seleksi.

SELEKSI

1. Sistem seleksi bantuan keberangkatan ke dan dari luar negeri dilakukan setiap bulan pada minggu ke 4
2. Seleksi berdasarkan kelengkapan persyaratan administrasi calon penerima bantuan keberangkatan ke dan dari luar negeri.
3. Pelaksanaan seleksi dilakukan oleh Biro Perencanaan dan Kerja Sama Luar Negeri (BPKLN) – Depdiknas dan sebagai koordinator adalah Kabag Fasilitasi Layanan Internasional, Biro PKLN Depdiknas.
4. Hasil seleksi diumumkan melalui website ini.
   

PELAPORAN

Setiap penerima bantuan diwajibkan membuat dan mengirimkan laporan hasil kegiatan selama di luar negeri paling lambat 1 (satu) sampai 2 (dua) minggu setelah keberangkatan. Klik disini untuk melihat, membuat, dan mengirim Format Laporan.

INDONESIAN SCHOLARSHIP

DARMASISWA RI PROGRAM

DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Bahasa Indonesia, arts, music and crafts. Participants can choose one of 44 different universities located in different cities in Indonesia. This program is organized by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DARMASISWA program was started in 1974 as part of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) initiative, admitting only students from ASEAN. However, in 1976 this program was extended to include students from other countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and USA. In early 90’s, this program was extended further to include all countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia. Until to date, the number of countries participating in this program is more than 75 countries.

The main purpose of the DARMASISWA program is to promote and increase the interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among the youth of other countries. It has also been designed to provide stronger cultural links and understanding among participating countries.

The interest of international students to participate in this program keep increasing year by year, especially in the last five years as can been seen in the following table:

Darmasiswa RI Program is conducted in 2 schemes, i.e :

• One-year non-degree program
• Six-month non-degree program

--= The Scholarship Covers=--

1. Exemption on tuition fee.
2. Allowance on living cost of Rp 1.000.000,00 (one milion rupiah) per month.
3. Clothing allowance; a once a year payment of Rp 300.000,00 (three hundred thousands rupiah).

The Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, MoNE, transfers the allowances for the participants every month through the University or College where they study.

The participant is advised to bring enough money for an unexpected additional expenses in Indonesia, roughly around US$ 1.000.00 (a thousand US dollar) or its equivalent.

--= QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANTS =--

The applicants shall:

1. ability to communicate in English
2. not more than 35 years of age
3. in good health as proved by medical certificate
4. have a basic knowledge of the field they’re applying for
5. at least completed secondary education or its equivalent

--= PROCEDURE =--

After registering online, it's a MUST for you to inform to the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate General to be legally approved. The applicants are allowed to apply for more than one Higher Education Institutions and submit their complete application forms and other documents to the Embassy or Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia where the applicants reside.

The documents of applicants who have been selected by the Indonesian Embassy will be submitted to the Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education or the Directorate of Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed:

Mengubah urutan default GRUB Loader Ubuntu

Biasanya setelah menginstall ubuntu pada komputer kita terutama yang masih menggunakan sistem dual-boot ubuntu dan xp, maka pada saat komputer dijalankan akan selalu tampil menu pilihan boot-loader dari GRUB, misalnya seperti pada gambar di bawah ini:



Bagi kita yang masih pemula mungkin kita lebih sering menggunakan windows daripada ubuntu atau komputer kita dipakai bersama oleh anggota keluarga yang lain yang tidak mengerti tentang grub loader, sehingga kita menginginkan agar default grub-nya adalah windows agar anggota keluarga lain tidak bingung, lalu bagaimana cara untuk mengubahnya?

langkah pertama sudah pasti masuk dulu ke ubuntu, lalu buka terminal dan ketik:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
kalau diminta pass masukin aja pass anda...

lalu cari baris berikut:

berdasarkan data di atas maka silahkan anda hitung urutan boot diatas, dimulai dari 0 ya, kalo di kasus menu.lst diatas maka Windows XP nya ada di urutan 3, silahkan cari urutan windows anda, kalo sudah ketemu kita ke langkah selanjutnya. kalau belum, ya cari terus sampai ketemu....

lalu cari lagi baris ini:

Mengembalikan Grub loader ubuntu

Biasanya kalau kita menginstal atau memiliki dual boot OS, katakanlah sabily 9.04 dan windows 7 ultimate, dan kebetulan windows kita lagi hang, error atau sebagainya sehingga menuntut kita untuk menginstal ulang windows maka grub loader ubuntu akan hilang dan kita tidak dapat masuk ke ubuntu ...
Lalu bagaimana cara untuk mengembalikan grub loader ini?
Langkah Pertama yang harus dilakukan adalah boot melalui cd atau dvd installer ubuntu (dalam hal ini saya menggunakan sabily 9.04) kemudian pilih try ubuntu without install, kemudian tunggu sampai masuk ke ubuntu
Langkah selanjutnya, buka terminal (Anda harus masuk sebagai root)
Ketik:
grub;
kemudian tekan enter.

untuk mengetahui partisi apa saja yang ada ketik;

grub> geometry (hd0); (kemudian enter)

maka akan hasilnya adalah:
drive 0×80: C/H/S = 9729/255/63, The number of sectors = 156301488, /dev/sda
Partition num: 0, Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0×7

Pada partisi diatas terlihat bahwa partisi nomor 7 yang menggunakan ubuntu, lalu ketik:
